Yay for Botswana!

Three Cheers for Democracy in Botswana. I wanted to post about this yesterday, but I still don't have the time today!! Mopping floors seems more pressing than updating a blog. But anyway, I was happy to read yesterday that in Botswana, where the Basarwa people were kicked off of their land due to corporate/diamond interests, have won the right to return. You can listen to the NPR story about it for full details- buts it is definately a good thing. There is often so little good news coming out of African Countries, that it is nice to see democracy working well in Botswana. Of course, it sucks they were removed form their land initially anyway- but progress is something.

On a personal note, anyone who speaks to me knows how discouraged I was to lose my professional portfolio in the move. I found it!! in a box in the garage with two labels- one on the top read "work materials," the other on the side (which I first read) said, "Vernon's books." So, that is a huge relief.

Now, I need to clean like crazy and make a grocery list for my party on Saturday, and plan our Hannukah lesson for Church on Sunday. I feel very disqualified for this task, but no one else can do it. So far I have found a few stories, some directions for making paper dreidels, and am making fried donuts.....ummm.....I wonder just how many kids will be there and what their ages will be? This could be a disaster.
