I had planned on writing up a glowing review of our Saturday trip to Rend Lake, as it was a fabulous day, and a day much needed. I think my having a serious case of the blahs had as much to do with not getting out into the natural elements as much as it had to do with anything hormonal or otherwise. However, a full post on that seems a bit ex post facto as my mind has moved on to other things by now.
(Did I use that phrase right? I do not think I have ever typed ex post facto in a narrative sentence before. I love big words and phrases, but they intimidate me at the same time.)
Summer is upon us, and we are being reminded once again that children grow up, and grow up fast. Oldest daughter is eschewing the remainder of her high school career and beginning college at the local community college this fall in hopes of having her associate degree by the time she would have received a high school diploma. Oldest son is graduating from the eighth grade this evening at 7:00 p.m. I attended the honors assembly at middle son's school this morning. Youngest son and I enjoyed a late morning jaunt downtown, and his growing maturity and ability to handle coffee shops, book stores and city streets on foot was evident to all.
A man who owns a little store called B&B Hobby Shop downtown always greets us with a, "Here comes our future Harvard Graduate!" and a big smile, which we love.
Even having been so down in the dumps and busy lately, I am reminded everyday to be thankful and loving, for life is good. It really is; I just have to take the time to look around once in awhile to see it.
With that, I have a mountain of work to get to, and War & Peace isn't getting any shorter either, though it is getting more interesting with every turn of the page.
Here is a little weekend lake eye candy for you after all. Peace!
