Countdown to Unplug your TV and Computer Week:

I decided to do one final check in with the family (and you) before we unplug the boxes for Turn off your TV (and computer) Week. Here is what happened when I tried to interview a sulky 11 year old about it:

Mom to 11 year old: So, what do you think about Unplug your TV and Computer Week?

11 yo: no no no.

mom: Anything else?

boy: bored days.

mom: What do you think you will do in the evenings?

boy: I'm not sure.

mom: Any ideas?

boy: No.

Then I sighed and said, "Thanks for the interview; it was really helpful."

I told him he could watch as much tv as he wanted tonight, and as much computer as he wanted as well.

But trust me, the complaining is all for show.

It wasn't 15 minutes later and he was reading The Dangerous Book for Boys and making some pin hole projector thinga-ma-bob and taking a walk. He did watch a little tv- just because he had to.

Giving up the computer for a whole week is going to be rough for me, but honestly I think I am the only one who is going to even notice. The weather looks good for the week, so I am anxious to see if I get more done than normal screen weeks. The yard and gardens are waiting for me.

Whatever will I do while I drink my morning coffee though? Sit outside and watch the birds? Read the paper? Read a book? Play with my boy? I guess the possibilities are endless.

See you on the 28th!
