Travel Journal: Guadalajara, Las Cervezas

I must admit, I think I am losing steam on posting the details of my vacation, but I hope to pull a few good posts out of my head still.  I don't have too many things left.  I am not sure who is actually reading the long winded diatribes I am posting about all this stuff anyway, but I think I will be grateful to have these to go back and read again someday.

I look forward to posting later about my trip to Tonala, and the market we went to on Thursday.  But now- on to the drinks of Guadalajara.

I have a friend who carries a super small notebook around in her purse at all times. She uses it to jot down notes about the places she has been, the beers and wines she has sipped, and the food she has tasted.  That might have been a good idea for me to have done while I was in Guadalajara.  I took these pictures, I know the beers were all good and tasty, but I really can't comment on them much more than that.

My first night in town, I drank a beer called Bohemia, which was good, but alas- no picture.  I do remember the wall of the bar having things written on it. I asked Luke to translate for me, which he was kind enough to do (over and over and over again). One of the quotations read, "If you drink to forget, don't forget to pay."

After sampling many beers throughout the day, it seemed like a good idea to taste some of Jalisco's fine tequila- much better fare than anything I have tasted before (which is very little I might add. I've never been a tequila drinker.)

I especially liked drinking this tequila, which was sweet and smooth, and sipped -not shot.

I really regret not taking pictures of the foods I ate, because everything I tasted was glorious.  I especially eating loved the local dish Tortas Ahogadas, which translates to drowned sandwich, but the street Gorditas we ate the last night I was there were very good. I don't know if I can really pick a favorite food after all. I know that I didn't taste anything that I didn't like.

I did snap one food picture, my last meal in Tlaquepaque: tacos and a coke. very tasty, but I really couldn't eat it all.  Maybe all that beer and tequila was affecting my appetite? Or maybe I was just sad about leaving . . .

And now, off to work I go! Have a great day, and look for pictures from Tonala soon.  I am also getting very anxious to start posting about things here again. Sipping my morning coffee in the garden today was wonderful, and I have some beautiful photos of my Irises to share.
