Happy Birthday to Our Son

E turned 14 last week, and we took a family hike to celebrate on Saturday (Minus Chel, Sadly). We went to Dixon Spings and Bell Smith Springs, both a part of the Shawnee National Forest.

I personally had a really wonderful day, and was just so warmed and touched watching all of our boys together. E is becoming such a MAN, and one to be so proud. He is fun, full of energy, and such a great big brother to both of his littles. I love his take on the world, and desire to just be doing.

I think we all enjoyed the trip to the forest. It was great to just get away from it all for the day, and just be with nature- together.

Happy Birthday. I love you, and am so lucky to be your stepmom.

In addition to just enjoying the day together as a family, I have to say that Dixon Springs is a really good hike. I think the trail we went on was called ghost canyon or something like that. It was really beautiful, with lots of rocks for climbing and water views. Bell Smith Springs was nice too, but we really only barely explored it as the sun was starting to set.
