nursery rhymes, running, plimsouls, drums, toddlers

  • I went running with Isaiah this afternoon. It felt kind of cool to be out running with my ten year old. Since we were both pretty out of shape from winter (okay, so it was me that was out of shape), we had a some time to talk. We came up with a new game which is my workout tip of the week: try and recite simple nursery rhymes while running. It's tougher than you think.
  • After working out, don't be so vain as to think that just because it's almost sixty degrees means you can run around the yard playing like an idiot. You can't, and you'll get hurt.
  • The eighties inspired dance party of Friday night last still has me rocking out to The Plimsouls, just like when I used to love the movie Valley Girl and think I was in love with Nicolas Cage.
  • Toddlers make you feel so talented. Tonight I spent a long time drumming my heart out on a djembe for a lone toddler and he danced so wonderfully. One might have thought I possessed rhythm.

I wouldn't exactly say I ma a runner. When I go running there is a lot of heavy breathing, stopping to walk, and side aching involved, and that is just in the first block!
