Sunflower State of Mind

I am leaving within minutes for a very nice get away weekend, we hope anyway. But like I said before, I will be home for church and am looking forward to Sunday.

I have had this short passage from a collection of Mother Teresa writings stuck in my head all day, so here is some food for thought for you (super condensed version).

And I hope you think that sunflower is as beautiful as I think it is. Think of me sitting on my back porch enjoying my sunflower garden, and I'll think of you wherever you are.
I am convinced that today's youth are more generous than those of times past. Our youth are better prepared and more willing to sacrifice for the service of man . . .

To a large extent these are young people from the middle class. They have everything: wealth, comfort, high status. However, they ask to enter a congregation that is at the service of the poor, in order to lead a life of real poverty and contemplation.

Sometimes the rich seem very willing to share in their own way the unhappiness of others. But it is a pity that they never give to the point of feeling that they are in need.

There are many people who can do big things, but there are very few people who will do the small things.
